Front Hip Pockets

The Book says, “The front hip pocket usually starts at the waist and ends at the side seam.”

You’re going to need an under pocket and a pocket facing.  The under pocket will show, so plan your fabric choice accordingly.
Begin by pinning the pocket facing to the garment, matching raw edges, right sides together

Stitch the facing to the garment

If necessary, clip curve and/or trim seam allowance

Understitch (basically top stitch, but on the side that isn’t going to show:the underside) the seam allowances to the facing

Turn the pocket to the wrong side of the garment and press

Pin the under pocket to the facing, matching raw edge curves, right sides together

Make sure to not catch the garment with the pins, you only want the pockets together on this

Keeping garment out of the way, stitch the facing to the under pocket along the curved edges

Pin pocket in place to the garment and go from there.
