Lil Blue Boo Dharma Trading Design Challenge

I'm pretty late in the game, but I just heard about Lil Blue Boo Dharma Trading Design Challenge.  The due date isn't until Monday, which is still plenty of time.

Here is my first entry
(maybe only, depending on how the weekend plays out)

As some of you know, I've had an idea for some vintage-type overalls for a long time. When I saw her Paper Doll Dress pattern, the first thought I had was: my overalls! The band around the chest, the wide criss-cross straps.  It was exactly what I was looking for.  You know, other than it being a dress.

I had to make a few masculine adjustments. No gathering, plain pockets, legs.
I also added an applique airplane with the reverse side of the corduroy on the front

and another little one at the cuff of the right leg.
They remind me of clothing my dad is wearing as a toddler in pictures from the 40s.  Clothing my grandmother made for him on the machine that now sits in my front room.
I bought the pattern Thursday night. I started them last night. I may have another variation of them currently in the works
(this time with tucks! gotta get my homework in somehow.)
I pretty much love them
And so does my baby!
