Plain Seam with Bound Edges

Plain Seam with Bound Edges

Start by sewing a Plain Seam

Fold garment in half, right sides together.

Fold bottom seam allowance under, leave top seam allowance flat.

Slip bias tape over top edge of seam allowance.

Edgestitch along the fold of the bias tape.

Repeat on other seam allowance.

Press seam open

The book says:  this seam "requires a bias tape and is desirable when sewing with fabric that frays easily. It is also used to bind the seams when sewing with furs."

And we all know how often I sew with furs.
