please and thank you

My sister, Suzi, is a teacher; an *amazing* teacher.  For the past 15 years she’s taught elementary in various states, always in high risk areas.  Suzi is bilingual in English and Spanish, teaching in both languages so children who otherwise may fall behind due to language barriers are able to excel.  She’s awesome.

Here are her current students:

Adorable, right?!  All about 40 of them.  That’s a ton of kids!

Suzi has applied for a grant for some incredible materials for her classroom: 3 interactive white boards and three video cameras. She’s hoping you would be willing to take some time to check out this link and cast your vote for a very deserving class and teacher. And feel free to encourage others to do the same! If Suzi can come in in the top five, she’ll  win and will be able to add some amazing resources to her classroom.

HERE is Suzi’s submission.  I love this excerpt from her proposal

“85% of our students come from minority backgrounds, and often feel displaced in a majority society. This activity helps them see the relevance of their culture in creating the community in which they live. Also, our 15% majority population often feel they have no "culture" because they have lived here for generations. In doing this activity they realize that they too have and continue to have an important impact on our society now, and in the future.”

The voting button is in the left hand margin (“vote for me”).  Spread the word and help out some awesome kids and their super sweet teach’!
