How I spent my summer vacation

This one started third grade last week

And this one began kindergarten today.

So I guess our summer vacation is officially over.  But what a summer it was!  With our goal of The Best Summer Ever, the boys and I sat down in May to make a list of all the things we wanted to accomplish this summer.  Over the last three months we crossed all but four activities/goals off our list, and a whole lot more.

Did nearly weekly science experiments

Took advantage of generous friends

Made a few trips to the zoo with friends and family (you pick which picture goes with which…)

Learned to make our own breakfast and renamed the kitchen “mom’s best best cooking school”

Did lots and lots of chores

And earned some fun rewards

We took care of caterpillars without killing them

Learned some sweet new wrestling moves from dad

Planted a garden

Played in our backyard

Hung out with best friends

Held an amazingly fun science camp

Watched our garden grow at an alarming, and seriously productive rate IMG_5583(we even ended up with a few blueberries!!)

Made apx. 7 tons of apricot jam, and some fruit leather, too.

Went to an amusement park with cousins

And Grandma

Learned to swim

Cast spells at the road

Found out these toes belong to a baby sister

Rode horses

Had our first sewing lessons and worked on our Service Quilt

Left mom behind for the annual Boys Campout to show off our ribs, er, muscles

Went to museums and local attractions

And learned to ride a two-wheeler just in time to start kindergarten like a “big kid”!

Whew!

Only nine more months until we get to try to top it for The Best Summer Ever 2012!IMG_6345

I seriously cannot wait!

Oh Sabra, I think you have about the cutest boys possible. I finally bought the Libman mop (and finally used it, haha), and I love it!
