Handsome Easter

IMG_2594
I made my boys little bowties for Easter this year using [I am Momma-Hear Me] Roar’s Retro Pointed Bowtie pattern.   I had this amazing pastel seersucker from the bag of fabric my mom gave me last year.

IMG_2582It’s older than I am and once was used to make my older sisters some amazing rompers.  But all I had was a small remnant.  In fact, after cutting out the three ties for my boys, there was a scrap only about 4”*7” left over; not near enough to make a tie for my husband when he shocked me by asking for one.IMG_2592

There was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to make something my husband actually was willing to wear, so I was super excited when I found this madras boys shirt.  Not the exact colors, but the same idea.  I found the pattern for men's accessories at the local thrift shop for $.50

I love that these ties actually tie.  It took some practice to get the tying down, but now that I know how to do it, it’s super easy.  Ties are about the quickest things ever to make, and seriously so cute handsome.  IMG_2593

Even after making four ties, I still had time to finish my Easter skirt.  I’ll post more about the finished skirt later.  It even has a working zipper…an Easter miracle.
