Our Family Fun Craft

My camera broke the other day.  Like, really broke.  I mean, yes, I guess it’s been pretty “off” since I let my kids take it out to get some pictures of rainbows and they left it in the rain for the next three days.  And yes, you could only see about 2/3 of the LCD screen on account of my dropping it on the floor and creating a crack down the very center.  BUT, it did take pictures and now it does not.  Broken.  I bought a new one yesterday, and it’s due to arrive sometime tomorrow.  So, really, not too big of a deal…except that I really wanted to participate in A Lemon Squeezy Home’s Craft With Your Kids Week and well, post about it.  And posts without pictures=kinda lame.  And then there’s the whole proving to my kids in a few years that I really did do fun stuff with them on occasion.  But camera, schmamera I say!  When you have mad Paint skills, who needs a camera?  So, without further ado, I give you our family’s craft this week:

First we got online and found these awesome Bat O’lanterns at Family Fun.  We all loved them.  So after a quick drive to town, we were back home with ten small fake assorted gourd-like shapes, some acrylic paint, and brushes.  Then, as is the rule in our house when using paint, the boys stripped down to their skivvies.
1
The boys decided they didn’t just want bats, but also ghosts and zombies.  So we painted the pumpkins black, white and green
2
Except my tw0-year old who painted his body and face
3
It was super cute.  So glad I have this picture to remember it.

While that dried, we watched some Halloween cartoons and ate cookies, then we painted on the faces
4
A quick application of glitter Mod Podge, and the ghouly gourds are now drying while the boys sleep
Tomorrow afternoon we’ve decided we want to string them all together to make a garland.   Though my new camera should be here in time to get a pic of the final product, I’d like to think things are going to go down pretty much like this

The end.
