Flat or Roll Collars

IMG_8251
The Book says, “A flat or rolled collar is styled to encircle the neckline…Common flat or roll collars include the mandarin, Peter Pan, convertible, and sailor collars.”
The book shows two types, so that’s what I did.  For each collar you need three pieces:  a top collar, under collar and top collar interfacingIMG_8242
Attach interfacing to top collar (interfacing lessons here)

Pin top w/interfacing attached to under collar, right sides together

Sew along the sides and top

Trim and grade seams as needed

Turn, pushing out corners with sweet flamin’ pencil

*Now the book has these next two steps reversed and I don’t know why.  I did it the way I did because I feel like I get a better top stitch if I press first*
Press collars

Well that is interesting. I always topstitch my flat collars even when patterns don't tell me too because I think it looks better - glad to know I do something right!!
