If you love Yo Gabba Gabba like we love Yo Gabba Gabba, you need to make yourself a DJ Lance Rock hat.
Materials:
-1/4 yard funky orange fabric
I used some awesome synthetic fur Christie tried to throw out, but I think fleece would be perfect
-1/4 yard lining or, if you are using fleece, heavy weight interfacing
The fur I used was pretty stiff, so it held on it’s own. But it was also scratchy on the reverse side, so I wanted it lined. I used a basic knit cotton for the lining. If you use fleece, you’ll need the stability of interfacing.
-Scrap of gold/yellow fabric
-Scrap of silver/grey fabric

Cut out two of each the main funky orange and the lining interfacing on the fold using the hat pattern
Cut out one star from the gold/yellow using the star pattern
Cut out one burst from the silver/grey using the burst pattern

Layer the star on the burst, then both on one piece of the funky orange hat
Appliqué the star in place, thereby securing it and the burst in place.
Try to do a better job than I did on this one. Sweet.

Right sides together, sew the funky orange hat pieces from one bottom edge up around the top “bell” of the hat and down to the other edge. Leave the entire bottom open.
Repeat with the lining/interfacing
Repeat with the lining/interfacing
Turn the funky orange right side out, place inside the still wrong side out lining/interfacing
Sew across the bottom edge, all around the entire circumference of the hat except for a 3-inch gap for turning
Turn right side out and push lining/interfacing into inside of hat. As you do this, move the bottom edge of the funky orange up into the inside of the hat, about 1/2 inch.
Top stitch all the way around, securing the gap
Now ask yourself:
Are you ready?
Should we dance?
Break it down!

note: there are two sizes, a small and a medium. I originally put ages on it, but then the medium fit my 7 year old. So really, I don’t know what I’m talking about. When in doubt, go with the bigger one. Also, I forgot to write "cut on fold" for the hat. I rock.
