It’s been really fun getting attention for something I made and hearing all the nice things people have had to say about the Domesticated Skirt. But seriously, it is AMAZING to see other people making something you’ve shared. I’ve been on a total high since seeing this at Red House Happenings….the SAME day she even saw the skirt!
and really, look at that model! Super cute. I’m loving the stripes and the red. Here it is reversed:

Ok, so I made it yesterday and wore it to pick up my kids from school and so many people commented on the skirt's cute design. You're amazing!
As for the "peeping" from the inner fabric - I think that could be solved with a simple stitch just above the bias tape from the corner of each side of the skirt. If you put on the skirt and mark it to where you want it to fold (and stay folded) and sew a line from the edge of the skirt to that point then it will stay. I tried the quick-step approach (ie safety pin) and it worked great - no more peeping! So a straight stitch should do the trick. :)
Thanks again for the great idea. I now am so excited to sew even more cute skirts for myself and my two girls. It was the perfect skirt to use as a first-step to sewing clothes. :)
I’m fixing my skirt’s little problem tomorrow so I can wear it just as soon as the weather warms a little more. So thank you, Hillary!

Thank you for the great pattern. I will be featuring it on my blog and soon as it warms up enough to get some great pics. I have to agree with the stitch on the bias tape of the hem. I topstitched down the seams on both sides of the skirt and then, with the skirt on, stitched 5 or 6 stitches where it folds in together. Sure seems to keep everything where it's supposed to be. Again, thank you so much. I get so tired of my Mom uniform, which is jeans. This is a nice change.
