Begin by sewing the seam up to the zipper opening.
Press open
On the left seam allowance, slide it out just past, 1/8 to 1/4 inch, the pressed line and pin it. You have to pull the 1/8- 1/4 out 1 inch past where you sewed the seam.
Close the zipper. Put the correct side of the zipper to the wrong side of one seam allowance side. The zipper tape needs to extend 1/2 inch passed the sewed seam. Pin.
Starting at the bottom of the zipper, sew to the top of that seam allowance.
With the project faced up, pin the other seam allowance over the closed zipper, completely covering the zipper and the other stitching. Pin.
Just ignore the markings from where I unpicked the zipper from the last lesson to reuse the fabric and zipper. la de da.
Sew 1/2 inch parallel to the seam fold through all the layers: fabric and zipper tape. Then across the bottom, too.

I have never done a lapped zipper like this- I'll have to try it next time I put in a zipper. If that ever happens.
