Or perhaps I’ll just call it Easter Egg Wreath for short.
I’m happy enough with how this wreath ended up. But it started out as was one of those projects that was totally sweet in my head, and then turned out to not be so very cute at all when I tried to make it. at.all. This was where the madness occurred:
Uh, yeah, so I just went with a simple wrap idea instead, with much less scary results.
(I made this while watching my kids play outside. Just thought I should explain why I was crafting on my porch and entryway.)
So get yourself :
- 1 cheap swim noodle
-a few spools of ribbon (I used four)
-a half yard of bleached cotton muslin
-duct tape
-scissors
-straight pins
- 1 cheap swim noodle
-a few spools of ribbon (I used four)
-a half yard of bleached cotton muslin
-duct tape
-scissors
-straight pins
Fold the noodle. It naturally makes a teardrop/egg shape. How convenient.
Duct tape it in place
take your muslin and cut/tear strips. I ended up needing five strips
Start to wrap the noodle in the strips, mummy style.
Use the straight pins to hold the strips in place
Pin an end of one of the ribbons to the back of the egg
And start wrapping
repeat for all ribbons
Make a bow, hang it up
I mentioned the other day about a fun little craft my kids and I did at my mom’s house. We made those string eggs with balloons. I’m sure pretty much everyone has done this/seen this. We did them at church when I was younger. The best part, by far, is when they are dry and you pop them. You should make them just so you can hear that awesome crackling. Awesome.
Anyway, my point in bringing that all up is that I hung a small one in the center of the wreath and I like it.

I was working on a wreath last week and I had this great idea in my head and when I started to put it all together it would not work...needless to say it is still sitting on my workspace taking up space.
It turned out really cute :)
Come on over and link up to check me out saturdays www.iamonly1woman.blogspot.com
Very cool idea! I have been following your blog for over a month now but have been really lame and not commented. Sorry! I love checking your blog because I am a beginner sewer and you help me immensely. I tend to wing it but I know I need to learn how to sew properly. So thank you again and keep the posts coming please!
This is so cute. I love it with the string egg in the middle!
Feel free to stop by my blog and enter my necklace giveaway!
Oh! I think every Easter Wreath needs a string egg in the middle!
