Serger Saturday:Blind Stitch/Hem

So say you want to blind hem and finish an edge all at once.  Guess what?  Your serger can do that for you!  I know!

So, start by grabbing your blind stitch foot.  My machine came with one, so I'm guessing it's pretty standard.  My last one didn't, but it was a handmedown, so...
Anyway, switch out your regular presser foot for the blind stitch foot.
thread your machine as for a 3thread overlock stitch, and remove the RIGHT needle.  Make good and sure that the left needle stays tightly in position, though.
Set your machine as follows, adjusting for fabric needs:
Stitch width: 5mm
Stitch length:3-4 mm
Neede thread tension: 0-2 (loose)
Upper looper: 5-7 (tight)
Lower looper: 2-4 (loose)
With wrong side up, fold fabric once
and then back over again to the desired width
gah! Blogger and it's helpful picture flipping!

Press
NOTE: I ended up trimming this piece of fabric down along the right side after pressing, once I understood better what I was going for here.

Now slide the edge of the fold to be hemmed up under the foot.
You want the needle to *just* hit the edge of the fold

There's a little screw on the presser foot.  If you turn this, you adjust the distance of the guide position
You want it to lined up with the fold.

Sew, just catching the fabric fold with your needle

Turn over and press
Blind stitch/hem, baby!
