Welt Seam


Welt Seam

Begin by sewing a Plain Seam.
Press seam allowance to one side.


Turn fabric right side up, flat (not folded). 


Stitch 1/4 inch away from the seamline with a straight stitch.

The underside/wrong side will look like this

The Book says:  "A Welt Seam finish allows the plain seam to be 'detailed' with topstitching."
